Olympic Silver Medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is the first sportsperson who has been appointed to take charge of Sports Ministry in the Central. He is the glorious gem of Rajasthan who continues to make us proud of his achievements. Rathore is an excellent shooter and an ex-army man who continues to serve the nation. In the span of his career, he has won various medals in the field of shooting including the Commonwealth and Asian games and has also been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 2005. Rathore was chosen as the flag bearer for India during the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2008 Rio Olympics.
He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2013 after taking retirement from the Indian Army and in 2014; he was confirmed as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, under the Narendra Modi government. Adding another feather to his cap, he has now been appointed as the Sport Minister of the BJP government in the central.
Rathore’s experience will surely play a big role for India in the events of 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
